Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth

Project 11 of 35
Douglas was hired by Tim Clothier (CEO of Illusion Projects) as a Creative Consultant / Project Manager for the newest residency of the hit show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

As Creative Consultant, Douglas worked with Tim Clothier, SPI Entertainment, and the team at the Brad Garrett Comedy Club (BGCC) to design two plasma TV stands, that would also act as scenic elements. The design needed to make a visual statement, yet needed to be compact, as the backstage storage space was very limited.

The initial concept for the TV stands was based on Mike Tyson’s wife’s idea, who saw them having an industrial style. We also discussed having one stand having a New York City skyline base, to incorporate the urban visuals from the ad campaign for the show, as well as, having one of the stands simulate the corner of a boxing ring, where Mike Tyson was the most dominate fighter of his time. In each of the designs, it was critical to have the name of the show displayed in the frame around the TV for branding and name recognition.

As Project Manager, Douglas acted at the liaison between Illusion Projects and SPI Entertainment. Douglas helped create the timeline for the project, coordinated the load-in schedule with BGCC, as well as, supervised the actual load in and making sure the A/V elements were set up correctly from the laptop backstage to the TV’s on stage.
