Michael Turco

I was hired by magician / illusionist Michael Turco, to be his technical director / production manager for his full illusion show at the Rampart Casino in Las Vegas. This one night only show was sold out, having ticket sales exceed over 1,000 people. I helped coordinated the load in and load out with Michael’s illusion technicians. Michael and I created a stage looks that consisted of four free-standing box trusses that were lit from their bases with color changing LED pars. Based on the show’s cue to cue sheet, I sat with the lighting designer to go over how to “light” magic so that nothing was exposed, and helped created different looks for the full stage scenes, as well as an in-one look for the audience participation tricks. I worked closing with the Rampart theater staff on the rigging of the “True Blood” illusion, where a 400lb magic crate, suspended by chains, had to be lifted in the air by two industrial winches.

During the live show, I was in the audio / video / lighting both calling the show. I also worked with the IMAG camera operator to make sure he covered all the action of the show, whether that meant a wide shot during the dance numbers, to a close-up shot while Michael was doing some intimate sleight-of-hand magic.
